John graduated from Colorado College with a B.A. in Business/Economics, and is a graduate of the AeA Stanford Executive Institute.

John is a co-founder of Resurgens and brings over twenty-seven years of entrepreneurial and operational experience to the firm. He is a two-time private equity-backed CEO, and was also the COO of a software company sold as one of the nation’s largest software acquisitions at the time. John has been backed by some of the world’s leading technology investment firms, including Insight Venture Partners, NEA, Warburg Pincus and Goldman Sachs.

Most recently, John was the founding Chairman and CEO of Suniva, the leading American manufacturer of solar cells and modules. Prior to leading Suniva’s growth, John was an operating partner at H.I.G. Capital, where he partnered closely with Resurgens’ co-founder, Fred Sturgis, on new investments and development of portfolio companies. Prior to H.I.G., John was the CEO of Insight-backed DWL Software, an enterprise software company that helped pioneer the Master Data Management space and was acquired by IBM, Prior to DWL, John was the Chief Operating Officer of TRADEX Technologies, during which time TRADEX became the market leader in digital marketplace platforms. TRADEX was acquired by Ariba for $5.6 billion, making it one of the largest software acquisitions in history at the time. John was also SVP of Worldwide Field Operations for Infinium Software, where he was part of the leadership team that led a successful initial public offering and acquired two companies. In addition, John is a former Board member of Procuri (acquired by Ariba) and Marketmax (acquired by SAS), both of which were portfolio companies of Insight Venture Partners.
